Halloween

What a fun Halloween we had!

Noah was a nerd for Halloween!

We didn't want to go the Harry Potter-route, as so many people expected, but we wanted to take advantage of the glasses. Dave wrapped tape around them and made a pocket protector that says, "MATH!" We just put a pen cap in it, so Noah wasn't tempted to pull out a pen and decorate our walls! His jeans were rolled up, but that worked out because his pants were too big, anyway. His buttons were crooked, and we tried to mess up his hair. We meant to spike it, but we didn't have time, so we just messed it up before we visited the neighbors!

We went to Scott and Laura's next door and Randy and Mimi's across the street. Her boys are always especially glad to see Noah - they love telling him all kinds of funny things they're doing, like painting pumpkins and what they had for dinner (Bloody Mummies, if you're interested - hot dogs with ketchup). Then we came home and dumped the candy he got in our candy dish to pass back out! He did get to keep the treat from Mimi's. She had graham crackers for little people!

Brandi and Jason, Laura, Cheryl and Harrison and Tyler, Noelle and Jack came over for dinner and to help pass out candy. Harrison goes to daycare with Noah, and they live up the street. Tyler, Noelle and Jack live on another street in our neighborhood. Jack, Harry and Noah are the one-year-old boys in the neighborhood. It was so fun watching them play together! We hadn't had so many little boys in our house since Nicci and Kate came to visit with their sons last year, and Noah slept through their entire visit!

Jack (Superman), Harry (Batman) and Noah (the Nerd)

We also celebrated Laura's birthday, which is actually today! Happy birthday, Laura (la-ra)!

We have girls' lunch on Fridays at work. Jessica B. (one of our designers) decided we needed to have a Halloween-themed lunch. She insisted the food actually be spooky . . . you couldn't just say your cooking is so bad, it's scary! I made taco soup, which isn't really that scary, but it does look kind of gross sometimes!

One of our Fiscal officers made eyes of newt; she had green deviled eggs with olives for the eyes! Kenna, the other designer, and Jessica C., another Fiscal person, both made kitty-litter cake. I think they definitely had the gross factor!
Justin, one of our IT guys, made . . . hmm, I guess you would say recently deceased or maimed gingerbread men. Some of them had "guts" coming out of them, some had toothpicks jammed into their heads or eyes, some were broken in half.

Jessica B. and Brandi both made veggie skeletons. Jessica's was human, and Brandi's was feline!

I got to help her put it together. We were going off this tiny little picture Jason's mom found online; I think whoever created it had a table-sized tray! We had a hard time making it fit, but we made adjustments and made it work for us. We decided that since it was a dead cat, it didn't need all its joints!

Brandi added her own touches, such as putting the veggie dip in her Starbucks thermos lid instead of a bowl.

I think everyone had a fun lunch, but I'm glad we usually just bring left-overs for Friday lunches!
